Pet Care

Your pet's good health and happiness depends on good nourishment, exercise and health care.

Exercise
Dogs must be exercised daily for their physical and mental well being. The level of exercise is dependent on the breed.

Training
Basic obedience training is the key to a well-behaved, dependable and happy dog. It allows the dog to have a better idea of what is expected of it and in turn the dog is more dependable and happier in itself. The effort is small but the benefits last a lifetime.

Children
Supervise young children around cats and dogs. They must learn to treat animals with respect and never tease them.

Neutering
Controlling your pet's reproduction is one of the most important responsibilities of pet ownership. The neuter operation is simple and straightforward and should be done as soon as possible. It brings both medical and behavioural benefits, resulting in a healthier, happier pet.

Grooming
Both cats and dogs, particularly those with long hair, need regular brushing and combing. Your pet will enjoy the routine and it will keep them happy and looking their best. It is also a good opportunity to check for common ailments such as skin conditions, lumps and fleas.

Health
Annual vaccinations keep both cats and dogs safe from severe diseases. Your veterinarian should also be consulted on the best treatment for common ailments such as mites, fleas, worms and skin, teeth and ear troubles.

Registration
Your dog must be registered with your local authority each year after three months of age and must wear a collar bearing its registration disc. Most councils charge a lower fee for de-sexed dogs.
