Established in 1987 by the Gawn family in North Otago, New Zealand Petfoods began by adding value to farm cull stock through natural meat rolls. By 1989, it expanded to offer a wider range of frozen natural products, eventually relocating to larger premises in 2000 and establishing Adair Abattoirs. Today, the company operates two divisions: Adair for stock procurement and processing, and a Timaru facility for manufacturing, sales, marketing, and distribution. This vertical integration ensures quality control across the supply chain. New Zealand Petfoods is known for its diverse range of raw feeding options, sold through supermarkets, pet stores, online sales, and company-owned retail outlets in Timaru and Oamaru.
